Program Director
Manteo, North Carolina
Greetings! I'm your Director of Exceptional Children's Services. I'm almost finished with my certification to be a Reading Research to Classroom Practice teacher trainer for NC DPI and have a renewed interested in literacy approaches for all school-aged children. Prior to my appointment as director at the district office, I have worked as an elementary principal, high school assistant principal, district level curriculum specialist, and a middle and high school English teacher. I was named the 2013-2014 Principal of the Year for Bladen County Schools. I have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UNC Wilmington, a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Western Carolina University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from UNC Asheville. I am certified by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in the following areas: Special Education Program Administration, School Superintendent, K-12 School Administration, and 6-12 English Language Arts Instruction.
One of the most the most exciting things I ever did was spend two years in the Philippines serving as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer. I lived under an active volcano in a rural village on an island in Southeast Asia. It was there that I trained teachers in instructional methods, in the use of computers, and in English language.
I'm a mom of two school aged children, a beekeeper with Journeyman level certification, and an extremely amateur classical guitarist.
