During this session, We will set up a mock Google Classroom and have participants become "students" and guide them through a lesson. Participants will learn how to hear each student play or sing individually, grade them with a rubric, and provide feedback to within the time limitations of class and without losing your mind! The apps Goobric, Doctopus, Flat.io and Vidyard apps will be shared. While this session focuses on music, the strategies used could be applied to any classroom. Bring a computer to this session.
This will be a 45 minute overview of Guided Reading instruction following the "Jan Plan". We will touch on how to assess students for grouping, how to group students, what students are doing while not with the teacher, the Guided Reading lesson plan, and how to schedule the ELA block. Teachers will walk away with sample schedules, ideas for independent student work, introduction to grouping students by reading skill versus reading level, and greater confidence in navigating The Next Step Forward in Guided Reading.

Participants will learn to observe and screen every student in their classroom through a variety of activities so that all students have the opportunity to demonstrate advanced behaviors. This fun and hands-on session will use creative thinking and perspective understanding to gain insight into the potential of ALL students.
The purpose of this session is to show educators simple ways we can teach our students to cope with conflict, understand their emotions and deal with them. The audience will represent conflict and solution situations that can occur in the classroom and will need to use one of the strategies to solve the problem. We will design an "it's your choice wheel" for each educator to take to their classrooms and also provide some fun ideas and DIY's on how to make it interactive for students. ( examples from our own classrooms)
